“I couldn’t have planned a better trip. I gained a lot of experience with Irish genealogical sources at PRONI and online. The visits to museums and historical homes and sites were both instructive and entertaining; they gave me a different perspective on my ancestors’ lives before they emigrated to the United States. I want to come back!”

Running from 06-13 September 2023 Ulster Historical Foundation’s Tracing your Irish Ancestors Family History Conference offers a varied and exciting mix of research opportunities in the archives of Belfast and a choice of tours to a number of historic sites across the island of Ireland.
The Foundation’s popular family history conferences are therefore ideally suited to the keen family historian who will be given assistance by experienced genealogists throughout the week and also those who favour learning more about the Ireland of their ancestors.
The Choice Is Yours!
During the conference programme you will be able to shape your own experiences by choosing to either research in the archives or join the Ulster Historical Foundation’s staff and guides on daily excursions through Ireland’s beautiful landscape to some of its most historic sites – or a mixture of the two!
For the research enthusiast, you can spend all your time in the archives if you wish to do so. Ulster Historical Foundation’s team of researchers know the archives and how to mine the information for your family tree. Working closely with the Foundation’s research team and being able to have dedicated one-on-one time with different researchers will greatly improve your chances of finding your elusive ancestors.
Choose to research in the archives or visit some of Ireland’s most historic sites
For those who are interested in learning more about the land and experiences of their ancestors, Tracing your Irish Ancestors extensive programme of tours will take you through the rolling Irish countryside to award-winning visitor attractions and other sites of international renown.
