We are delighted to announce that 639 dog licence holders in North Dublin have been added to our database at www.rootsireland.ie/dublinnorth under ‘Census Substitutes’. It details includes the names and addresses of over 600 residents in the greater Swords area in the period 1923-24. It covers Swords, Malahide, Donabate and parts of rural Fingal and gives an insight into various townland names.

The Cavan Calling Diaspora Homecoming event which was due to take place in August has been postponed and will instead be held in 2021. See below for a statement on this from Tommy Ryan, CEO Cavan County Council.

Dear Friend of Cavan,

At this time of global crisis, our thoughts are with the Cavan Diaspora around the world. No matter where we call home, or how many miles separate us, we face this unprecedented threat together.

It is at times like this, when many of us are forced to spend time apart from our loved ones, that we realise the importance of bonds of friendship, of family, and of shared heritage and culture.

Never has a celebration of these bonds, and of our shared love of Cavan, been more warranted. However, these uncertain times call for solidarity and resolve so that we might celebrate all the more when we re-emerge from this period of necessary isolation.

As such, after careful consideration, and with the safety of our friends at home and abroad foremost in our thoughts, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone Cavan Calling until 2021.

The global effort to halt the spread of coronavirus has understandably made it difficult to plan overseas travel and so, in order to facilitate containment measures at home and abroad, we believe it is best to host our homecoming celebration at a later date, when we can safely bring the global Cavan family together in a spirit of kinship and community.

Much effort has gone into planning an unforgettable celebration of all things Cavan, and while we know that a great many of you across the globe were excited to come home this August, allow me to assure you that Cavan Calling will be back in 2021, even bigger and better than before.

For now, until Cavan Calling brings us together again, stay safe.

The Genealogy Conference scheduled for 8^th-10^th May 2020 in Armagh has been cancelled due to the Coronavirus.  Armagh Ancestry hope to organise a Conference in May 2021 and expect many of the topic and talks to be as advertised for 2020.  A full refund will be issued to everyone who has paid and this make take several weeks to appear in your account.  Refunds will be paid directly to the Card/account used by the client when booking and if you have not received your refund by mid-April please contact: researcher@armaghbanbridgecraigavon.gov.uk
